Solve basic proportions (easier type)

by Derek Swierczek on Apr 15, 2014

This video has 2 different examples of solving basic proportions. The first example is done 2 different ways (multiply by denominator and divide by the coefficient) so students can choose which method makes more sense to them, based on how they chose to solve linear equations earlier in the year. The second example shows how to rewrite the problem if the variable is in the denominator (bottom). "Cross Multiply" is NOT shown in this video since many students overuse this method incorrectly.
