Be able to simplify expressions involving division of powers. Examples show how to subtract exponents (top exponent minus bottom exponent when bases are the same) as well as using the negative exponent rule to rewrite problems if students have difficulty with subtracting the exponents. A visual approach is also explained in the first example, along with a rationale for why it's not an efficient method for all problems.
